"And thou shalt put the mercy seat above the ark; And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel."   Exodus 25:22

BIOGRAPHY of Bishop Eric McClellan

Bishop Eric McClellan was born in Waycross, Georgia, where he was raised by his father, Sam McClellan, a successful businessman and former major drug-dealer, who is now saved.  His father instilled in him discipline and entrepreneurial foresight which helped mold him into what he is today.   At the age of 14, Bishop Eric left home to live on his own. After moving to Florida, he soon became heavily addicted to drugs and consumed by the lifestyle established by the example of his parents.

After years of wandering, at the age of 19, “strung out” on cocaine, he surrendered his life to Jesus.   His Pastor, Reverend Ted Miller, fathered and mentored him in his faith.  Then at the age of twenty, Pastor Eric heard God’s call to preach and began serving as youth pastor at an Assembly of God church in Waycross, Georgia.  At age 22,  he accepted his first pastorate at First Assembly of God Church in Folkston, Georgia., and received pastoral credentials with the Assemblies of God.  During the next several years, he served as Senior Pastor at several Assembly of God churches in Georgia until finally personally meeting a man who would forever change the course of his ministry.

In 2001, Bishop T. D. Jakes’ words pulled his mind out of the traditional thinking of denominational confines to grasp the totality of who he is in Christ and who Christ is in him.   Joining PHIPA (Potter’s House International Pastoral Alliance), he became a spiritual son of Bishop Jakes.  As the spiritual DNA of his spiritual dad flows with purpose into the veins of his faith, he now experiences a greater depth of anointing.

Seeing the need to sit and learn apostolic covering, at the end of 200l, he moved from Georgia to Dallas, to become a member of The Potter’s House.   As  he spent two years learning at the feet of his spiritual father, he gained a fresh perspective on thriving ministry as opposed to surviving ministry.  Armed with these principles and led by the Holy Spirit, in 2004 he founded The Mercy Seat, a non-denominational, multi-cultural church, in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Throughout Bishop McClellan’s ministry, he has experienced many defining moments: from appearing on TBN’s Praise the Lord program, to preaching crusades in foreign countries,  fellowshipping with generals of the faith, pastoring people of purpose,  fighting  prevailing conflicts, always standing on Biblical principles.  In all these, the Kingdom of God has been advanced in purpose and in power.

Bishop McClellan has a passion for the Lord Jesus Christ and for leading others into a saving, growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is a man with a vision for today’s time, one that defies the doctrines of man and seeks to glorify God alone.  He preaches with fervor and wisdom; he lives with integrity and character.

He and his wife Felicia have two children—Monte and Ericka. They currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas, where his time is devoted to pastoring, evangelizing, teaching, and writing.
