The Mercy Seat was founded by Bishop Eric McClellan and a group of individuals inspired and spiritually armed to
advance the Kingdom of God, first in Tarrant County, and then throughout the World. God initially gave Bishop McClellan
the vision and name of The Mercy Seat in the summer of 2002, but confirmed the location in the fall of 2004. In preparation
for its establishment, Bishop McClellan heard the Word of the Lord: "Go down to The Potter's House and there I will speak
with you." In obedience to His Word, at the end of 2002, Bishop McClellan and his family moved from Georgia, where he had
pastored for 13 years, to Texas. For the next two years, Bishop McClellan sat under the leadership of his spiritual father, Bishop
T.D. Jakes, and waited for further direction from the Lord pertaining to this vision. In the meantime, God was also preparing the
group who would share this vision and who would unite with him in the birthing of The Mercy Seat. In His mysterious wisdom,
God chose Hurst, Texas, as the location of The Mercy Seat. On December 5, 2004, The Mercy Seat held its first service at
428 Bedford-Euless Road in Hurst, Texas. Since its opening, God has worked mightily, as this church body has steadily grown
in Spirit, in Truth, and in number. The Mercy Seat currently worships at 705 Airport Frwy. Hurst, Texas, where God's
Grace and Mercy reign as His Kingdom principles are taught and practiced.
